Hiking Fletcher Peak, Mt. Charleston, NV (Elevation 10,319 Feet)

Today we woke up and decided to go hiking in the afternoon. We set out for Fletcher Peak. During the winter we hiked this trail three times and we always missed the summit because I was to tired to finish it. Well today I got my first summit for Fletcher Peak. It’s a nice hike, but like always I got my butt kicked. The hike is 6 miles around trip. We ran about 90% of the way down. I really enjoyed running down the trail, it’s a great workout. If Geoff had it his way, we would be running both up and down the trail. After the hike we went to Chinatown for noodles (best comfy food after a hard hike!) and then stopped at our fav tea shop!

Birthday Crop for Angela, Michelle and Sandra

Today I was invited to a birthday crop* for a few of my cropping friends. The theme of the crop was Marie Antoinette and a tea party. This is right up my alley! The girls put together a lovely crop with a handful of possible scrap booking projects. I gave my first “pendent” design a try. I felt it came out pretty well. I may even hang it up at work or in my crafting room. They also had a few games and prizes for those who attended.

I made around 10 cards for my Auntie, in the event her friends have birthdays. I stared a baby book for my girlfriend Kristen that is due in a few months. I can’t wait to send it to her, once I get it flushed out a few days. This is bad of me, but I like some of the cards I created so much, I just want to keep them all for myself. However, that would be selfish of me ;-)

* A crop is when a bunch of people get together for a full day of scrap booking, eating, talking, playing games, and in general, having a good time.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Yesterday we were at Zion National Park, today we are Bryce Canyon to hike the sites! This is hidden gem. I wish we stayed here all weekend rather then going to Zion. We did this 8 mile loop that had great coverage of what Bryce Canyon is all about. This Canyon has hoodoos all over the place. “hoodoos,” are these unique formations, whimsically arranged, and tinted with colors too numerous and subtle to name. We could not get over the view we had on the whole hike. We took about 200 photos on the hike. Every photo is great! On the flat part of the hike, we jogged it, stopped for photos and jogged some more. For those visiting Southern Utah, I would strongly recommend checking out Bryce Canyon. By the time we finished the loop, that added up to 20 miles hiked for the weekend. The whole hike all I wanted was hot coco and fries. When we go to the Lodge at the end of the hike, we sat down for lunch. Along with my coco and fries I tried to be good and all so I ordered a lovely salad. I didn’t touch the salad at all, I just wanted the fries! Geoff found it really cute and we took the salad to go.

Zion National Park

For Geoff’s birthday weekend I had gotten us a living social deal for a B&B in Cedar City, UT. It was about an hour away from Zion National Park. We got up early this morning to head out to Zion to be one of the first people on their most popular trail called Angels Landing. I guess it’s so popular because to get to the summit, there are chains bolted into the mountain to help you get up. Good thing we got there so early, because when you get to the chain section, people can only go one way at a time. We got lucky that not too many people were going up or down the chain section.

Up at the summit, there were cute chimpmouncks running around. One used Geoff’s foot to jump off of. I got some cute photos of one running over my bag checking it out. I bet he was looking for food. At one point a chimpmounk jumped on my back. For some reasonI screamed like a little girl.

After we go done with Angels Landing, which was about 5 miles, we headed to another trail called Observation Point, whitch is 8 miles. I only made it about 6 miles of the trip, I was just tried from all the hiking. Observation Point is a lot prettier then Angels Landing. Next time we go back, I hope to be able to finish Observation Point and get another hike in one day. That’s a lot of miles, but I would love to do that.

Chilling with my boys

After we hit up the Farmers Market in Mountain View, CA, we drove down to Santa Cruz to visit one of my best buddy’s. When we got to Santa Cruz, we walked around the downtown area and I ended up getting a cute top from a little boutique store. After we had lunch at this awesome little place, we headed out to walk the shoreline from Santa Cruz to Capitola. I really enjoyed watching all sorts of dogs, from huge to small, swim in the ocean.

I want to say we walked a total of about 3-4 miles along the coast from Santa Crus to Capitola. When we got to the Capitola pier, we were having a lovely time just looking out at the ocean, when out of nowhere, a seal came out of the water with a fish in his mouth. We ended up watching him eat it, it was an experience

Mountain View, CA Farmers Market

This morning we met up with our friends Alice and Rob. We have farmer markets in Vegas, but nothing beats a Cali farmers market. All the vendors had samples out for the taken, so we pretty much had breakfast there from all the samples we tried. We randomly ran into someone we used to work with at Zappos that left to work for Goggle. The market had exerting from fruit, nuts, fish, flowers and more…Mountain View, CA Farmers Market

Point Reyes, CA

We flew into San Jose, CA for the weekend to bum around town. As soon as we landed and got the rental car, we headed up to Point Reyes, CA. I love driving anywhere in CA! On our way to Point Ryes, we stopped at a few beaches along the way. At one stop, we got to see 100 seals that were napping along the shore line. When we got closer to the ocean, we passed passed by more farms and saw cows everywhere. There were a few times we thought that we would have to stop for a cow crossing the road since they pretty much run free.

The main reason for making the trip to Point Reyes was to see the lighthouse. Once you park you have about an 3/4 mile walk to the top of the lighthouse, then you walk down about 400 steps. The view of the light house and ocean is just wonderful. I could of just sat and looked out across the ocean all day. The 400 steps back up was one hell of a work out. I broke a sweat, but it was worth it.

We then drove back to San Jose, CA to the hotel and passed out! We drove well over 200 mile just on Sat!

Black Mt, Las Vegas, NV
We hike Black Mt at least once a week. It’s always a great work out that always kicked my butt! It’s 6 miles around trip. We run the first 3/4 mile of the trail, power walk to the summit. Then run 3/4 of the 3 miles back to the car. I’m always beat when we are doing hiking, but I love every min of it. When I first started hiking Black Mt, It would take me over 3 years to finnish the hike. I’ve gotten it down to about 2 hours 20 min. Staying active and working out has really paid off!

Opeth
I have not been to a Metal since in about 10 years. I used to go with my friend Pete, Danny, Ryan and some others back in early college. We mostly just wanted to see Opeth play, they are from Sweden. They are better live then on their CD. I hope they tour again in the states next year!

April’s Baby Shower
This afternoon we went to April’s Baby Shower. April just moved across town and on the way we got stuck with a train stopping blocking the road we needed to get down. So we did a little off roading in the Honda to get around the train. That was a blast. Once we got to April’s we got the tour of the new house. It has a really nice open layout and got to see the baby’s room all ready to go! April received a ton of gifts for the baby. I think she got at least 30 one-zs! We had a great time. I hope April was not to tried from having a ton of people over. The baby will be here before we know it!
